  • NEWS: STOCKIST OF DESIGNER HANDMADE WEDDING GARTERS

20 October at 23:20 from atlas

If you are thinking of including a wedding garter on your special day, we have several garter collections to suit all brides to be. Our range includes garters that are plain and simple, elegant and lacy and even something blue. Our garters are designed to co-ordinate with your wedding, whether that be a colour scheme, theme or style.

The tradition of "tossing" the garter is known to date back to 14th Century France. At the wedding the bride would throw the garter to the gathered guests and it was believed that the recipient would receive good luck and fortune. At today's weddings it is now common for the groom to remove the garter and toss it to a group of unmarried men. The "catcher" is thought to be the next to marry.

The garter is worn on the bride's right leg just above the knee. The bride may wish to keep a little good luck of her own and wear one garter to throw and a second garter as a special keepsake.

Something New is a stockist for WA local garter designers, Natalie Briggs Luxury Handmade Garters and Lily Handmade Couture along with popular international designers, Beverly Clark and Weddingstar.
